Sherman Oaks

Sherman Oaks is an affluent, highly urbanized, major employment center in the southern San Fernando Valley section of Los Angeles, with numerous high-rise office buildings. Encino is to the west, Van Nuys is to the north, Studio City is to the east, and Bel Air and Beverly Glen are to the south. Ventura Boulevard is the primary commercial corridor. The southern boundary of Sherman Oaks is Mulholland Drive. As of the 2010 census, the population was 52,677. Sherman Oaks is home to the Sherman Oaks Galleria Shopping Center which is a major regional shopping mall.

 

Sherman Oaks Homeowners Association

The Sherman Oaks Homeowners Association (SOHA), founded in 1964, is the largest voluntary association of homeowners in the City of Los Angeles with more than 2,800 members. Meetings are held monthly. Goals include improving property values, promoting safety, and communicating with public officials in order to assure that the needs of Sherman Oaks residents are met.

 

Sherman Oaks Hospital and Grossman Burn Center

The Sherman Oaks Hospital and Grossman Burn Center is a 153 bed community hospital located in Sherman Oaks which is in the south central San Fernando Valley. The hospital is staffed with approximately 400 physicians and support staff exceeding 100. Services include: Emergency Care, Surgery, Cardiovascular Services, Neurological Services, Wound Care, and more.

 

 

Fossil Ridge Park - Sherman Oaks

Fossil Ridge Park, located in Sherman Oaks and the Santa Monica Mountains, is owned by the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy. The 110 acre park is embedded with the remains of ancient fish, mammals, and plants, making it a great educational resource. Fossils discovered have included whales, sharks, and porpoises.

 

 

Benedict Canyon

Benedict Canyon Drive

Benedict Canyon is a ravine and street in the Santa Monica Mountains that connects Sherman Oaks in the San Fernando Valley to Beverly Hills. Some of the most expensive homes in the Los Angeles Basin can be found in Benedict Canyon from its high point at Mulholland Drive, south to Beverly Hills where it meets Sunset Boulevard at the site of the famous Beverly Hills Hotel. Benedict Canyon Drive splits into N. Rodeo Drive and N. Cannon Drive south of Sunset Boulevard.

 

 

Van Nuys Sherman Oaks Recreation Center

Van Nuys Sherman Oaks Recreation Center is a community center located in Sherman Oaks. The center features a lighted football field, indoor gym, a lighted soccer field, baseball diamonds, lighted volleyball courts, lighted basketball courts, lighted tennis courts, two children's play areas, picnic tables, an auditorium that will accommodate 60, restrooms, classes and other planned activities, shade trees, and lots of open space.

 

Deervale - Stone Canyon Park

Sherman Oaks

Deervale-Stone Canyon Park is an 80 acre community park in Sherman Oaks that is operated and maintained by the City of Los Angeles Department of Parks and Recreation. The park has extensive hiking trails, lots of open space, mature oak trees, and great views of the San Fernando Valley.

 

The Federation of Hillside and Canyon Associations

The Federation of Hillside and Canyon Associations is a non-profit organization founded in 1952. Its purpose is to protect the property and quality of life of the residents of the Santa Monica Mountains and other hillside areas of  Los Angeles County and to promote policies and programs that will best preserve the natural topography and wildlife of the mountains and hillsides for the benefit of all the people of Los Angeles County.
