Encino is an affluent community in the south central part of the San Fernando Valley which is located within the City of Los Angeles. Encino is on the north slope of the Santa Monica Mountains which are to the south. Also, to the south is the San Vicente Mountain Park. Tarzana is to the west, Sherman Oaks to the east, and the Sepulveda Dam Recreation Area to the north.

Encino is a major employment center with more than 3,800 business establishments centered around Ventura Boulevard.  Encino is approximately 13 miles to Westwood, 16 miles to Beverly Hills, and 21 miles to Downtown Los Angeles.

 

Encino Hospital Medical Center

The Encino Hospital Medical Center is a 150-bed non-profit hospital and major employer in Encino which is in the south-central San Fernando Valley region of Los Angeles. The staff consists of more than 330 physicians and a support staff of 520 professionals.

 

Encino Community Center

The Encino Community Center features an auditorium that seats 100, a large community room, kitchen, and restrooms. The facility is maintained and operated by the Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks.

 

Encino Park

Encino Park is a community park that features barbeques, picnic tables, restrooms, lighted basketball courts, a children’s play area, and lots of shade trees.

 

Los Encinos State Historic Park

The Los Encinos State Historic Park is a state park located at the corner of Balboa Boulevard and Ventura Boulevard in Encino. The 4.7-acre rancho includes the original nine room de la Ossa Adobe, the two-story limestone Garnier building, a blacksmith building, a pond, and a natural spring. The natural spring provided a year-round source of fresh water for the Tongva Indians who inhabited the San Fernando Valley for thousands of years before the area was claimed by Spain and later by Mexico. Los Encinos became a California state park in 1948.

The Encino Chamber of Commerce serves its member businesses in Encino and the surrounding San Fernando Valley communities, including Studio City, Tarzana, Sherman Oaks, and Lake Balboa.

 

 Encino Municipal Golf Course

Encino Municipal Golf Course is an 18-hole public golf course designed by William P. Bell & Sons. It is located at the Sepulveda Dam Recreation Area complex in Encino near the Balboa Municipal Golf Course. It opened in 1957.

Balboa Municipal Golf Course is an 18-hole public golf course designed by William P. Bell & Sons. It is located at the Sepulveda Dam Recreation Area complex in Encino near the Encino Municipal Golf Course. It opened in 1954.

 

Woodley Lakes Municipal Golf Course

Woodley Lakes Municipal Golf Course is an 18-hole public golf course designed by Ray Goates. It is located at the Sepulveda Dam Recreation Area complex in Encino, near the Encino Municipal Golf Course. It opened in 1975 as the third golf course in the Sepulveda Dam Recreation Area.

 

Sepulveda Basin Recreation Area

The 2,000-acre Sepulveda Basin Recreation Area is located in the San Fernando Valley at the north end of Encino. It is a major flood control basin managed by the Los Angeles City Department of Recreation and Parks for recreational purposes. It features three 18-hole golf courses, two large parks, an 80 acre sports field, a lake with boat rentals, fishing, hiking and bike trails, a Japanese garden, playgrounds for children, tennis courts, and a large wildlife preserve. More than 200 species of birds have been observed, attracted by the lake, and Los Angeles River that runs through the basin.

 

The Groves Overlook

The Groves Overlook is a local overlook located in Encino on Mulholland Scenic Parkway just west of the San Diego Freeway. The outlook is named for the large grove of eucalyptus trees at the famous location. The outlook provides great views of the San Fernando Valley.
