City of San Buenaventura
Ventura (officially the City of San Buenaventura) is the county seat of Ventura County in Southern California. The city was founded in 1866 and has an estimated population of 110,000. Ventura is located on the pacific coast northwest of Los Angeles on the Oxnard Plain. The Ventura River is its western boundary and the Santa Clara River is at the southern edge of the city. Oxnard is located directly to the southeast and Camarillo is further to the east. Ojai is directly to the north.
KVTA Radio – Ventura County
KVTA (1590 AM) is a local radio station broadcasting news and talk radio from Ventura. It serves Ventura County and Santa Barbara County. For several years, Michael Chulak, the licensed broker for Pacific Realtors, hosted a radio show on KVTA (1590 AM) featured as: On the Law by Attorney Michael Chulak.
Ventura Harbor
The Ventura Harbor is owned and operated by the Ventura Port District which is a special governmental district created for the purpose of acquiring the property, developing, and operating the harbor.
Ventura Isle Marina
Ventura Isle Marina is the largest pleasure boat marina in Ventura Harbor with 580 boat slips having berths ranging from 25 to 95 feet. Ventura Isle Harbor is located at 1383 Spinnaker Drive in Ventura.
Ventura Pier
The Ventura Pier was 1,200 feet in length when originally constructed in 1872. It was extended to 1,958 feet in 1938 and later reduced to its current length of 1,620 feet after being damaged by severe storms and a fire. The pier is within walking distance of downtown Ventura and is a great place to visit. There is a small park adjacent to the pier, beautiful sandy beaches, restrooms, and restaurants. Ventura Pier is a great place to view the Channel Islands, the Pacific Ocean, the Ventura County coastline, and passing sailboats.
Emma Wood State Beach
Emma Wood State Beach is a beautiful 112 acre California State Beach in Ventura County established in 1957. The beach borders the estuary at the mouth of the Ventura River in the City of Ventura. Emma Wood State Beach is popular for both surfing and fishing. Dolphins are often seen offshore and the Channel Islands can be seen from the beach.
Downtown Ventura Property Owners Association
The Downtown Ventura Property Owners Association is an all-volunteer organization dedicated to producing a healthy retail center, a diverse cultural district, an attractive visitor destination, and a livable neighborhood. Downtown Ventura is a great place to visit. It has many restaurants, antique stores, clothing stores, jewelers, book stores, and many unique specialty stores for every budget.
Museum of Ventura County
The Museum of Ventura County is located at 100 E. Main Street in downtown Ventura, across the street from Mission San Buenaventura. The museum contains a collection of more than 30,000 pieces of fine art and historical objects that tell the story of Ventura County and its people. Artifacts include those from the Chumash People, the Spanish, the Mexicans, and those that followed to the present day. The museum is a real treasure and is definitely worth visiting.
Museum of Ventura County Research Center
The Museum of Ventura County Research Center houses over 150,000 resources pertaining to the history of Ventura County and the surrounding area. The collection spans the Chumash People, the Mission and Rancho periods, and beyond. The Research Center has a wealth of valuable information. It is located at 100 East Main Street in downtown Ventura.
Albinger Archeological Museum
The Albinger Archeological Museum, at 113 E Main Street in Downtown Ventura, has artifacts covering more than 3,500 years of local history including five different cultures. Relics and artifacts from the Chumash People, Spanish, Mexicans, and Chinese are available to the public. Tours are available from time to time. The museum is located next to the Mission San Buenaventura.
Ortega Adobe Historic Residence
The Ortega Adobe Historic Residence, at 215 W. Main Street in Downtown Ventura, was built in 1857. While typical of many homes built in the 1850s, it is the only one remaining in the area. It is open most days.
Olivas Adobe Historical Park
The Olivas Adobe, located at 4200 Olivas Park Drive in Ventura, is a two story adobe built in the Monterey style in 1847. It was once part of a 4,700 acre ranch owned by Don Raymundo Olivas, and is an example of how the wealthy lived in the 1840s and 1850s in Southern California.
Mission San Buenaventura
Ventura Mission
Mission San Buenaventura was founded in 1782 as a Spanish Mission in what is now Ventura. It was named by the Spanish for Saint Bonaventura. Both the city of Ventura and the County of Ventura were named after the mission. While the church remains an active Catholic Parish, a museum is located at the Mission which displays numerous artifacts, including many Chumash Indian artifacts. The museum is definitely worth visiting. It is located at 211 E. Main Street.
Buenaventura Art Association
Buenaventura Art Gallery - Harbor Village Gallery
For more than six years, the Buenaventura Art Association has been supporting, developing, and exhibiting works from local artists. Exhibits are continuously changing and can be viewed at the Buenaventura Art Gallery at 700 E. Santa Clara Street in Ventura or at the Harbor Village Gallery at 1591 Spinaker Drive in Ventura or at the Harbor Village Gallery at 1591 Spinnaker Drive at the Ventura Harbor Village in Ventura. The Buenaventura Art Association is a member of the Arts Council of the Conejo Valley.
Ventura Yacht Club
The Ventura Yacht Club, founded in 1938, is the oldest yacht club established in Ventura County. The club owns and operates a 91 slip marina for its members and maintains a guest dock for members and visitors with yacht club reciprocity. Its clubhouse is located on the west side of Ventura Harbor between Ventura Harbor Village and the Channel Islands National park headquarters. The club features racing, cruising, dining, many social events, and a youth sailing program.
Pierport Bay Yacht Club
The Pierport Bay Yacht Club in Ventura, founded in 1972, is a small full service yacht club that offers racing, cruising, fishing, and boating education programs. The clubhouse offers a spectacular view of the harbor and includes a kitchen, full bar, and outdoor deck.
Ventura Sportfishing
Ventura Sportfishing boats are available at the Ventura Harbor for full day and ¾ day fishing trips for up to 24 anglers. Boats are available during the week as well as weekends. The targets are Channel Island game fish or rockfish as a backup. Charters are also available for private parties.
Buenaventura Golf Course
The Buenaventura Golf Course is an 18 hole course owned by the city of Ventura. It was designed by William Park Bell in 1932 and was redesigned by Forrest Richardson in 2006. Buenaventura Golf Course offers the Wedgewood Wedding and Banquet Center, golf shop, putting green, and restaurant. The Olivas Links sister course is 3.5 miles away in Ventura.
Olivas Links Golf Course
Olivas Links Golf Course is an 18 hole city owned regulation length golf course in the city of Ventura next to the Santa Clara River and Ventura Harbor. The course was designed by architect Forrest Richardson and William F. Bell and opened in 1962. It features great views of the Channel Islands and Ventura Harbor, driving range, and more. The Buenaventura Golf Course, a sister course, is located 3.5 miles away in Ventura.
Chumash Park - Ventura
Chumash Park is a community park at the north end of Ventura, near Saticoy, that features basketball, picnic areas, barbeques, a large children's play area, restrooms, and plenty of open space. Chumash Park in Ventura should not be confused with Chumash Park in Agoura Hills.
Grant Park - Ventura
Grant Park is a 107 acre park in Ventura that offers spectacular views of the city, the coastline, and the Channel Islands. The park features picnic facilities, restrooms, a public shooting range, shade trees, and plenty of open space. The most famous landmark is a large cross that is a replica of one placed during the era of the Spanish missions. It is known as the Father Serra Cross.
Seaside Wilderness Park - Ventura
Seaside Wilderness Park in Ventura is an undeveloped 24 acre park located at the mouth of the Ventura River fronting on the Pacific Ocean. It should not be confused with Seaside Park in Ventura which is the site of the annual Ventura County Fair. While access is difficult, the views from the site are incredible. The park includes hiking and biking trails.
Camino Real Park - Ventura
Camino Real Park is a 38 acre community park in Ventura that features 8 tennis courts, 2 softball fields, a football/soccer field, a baseball diamond, 3 children's play areas, sand volleyball courts, picnic areas, restrooms, lots of mature trees, and plenty of open space.
Arroyo Verde Park - Ventura
Arroyo Verde Park is a 132 acre park in Ventura, part of which has not been developed. The park features several miles of hiking trails, a nature center, 2 children’s play areas, extensive picnic areas, barbeques, restrooms, lots of mature shade trees, and plenty of open space. The park is an excellent choice for large events.
Ventura Community Park - Ventura
Ventura Community Park is owned by the City of Ventura. The park has a 50 meter swimming pool and offers many pool related activities including swimming teams, synchronized swimming, water aerobics, a swimming school, and private lessons.
Marina Park - Ventura
Marina Beach
Marina Park and Beach is located at the entry to Ventura Harbor. In addition to the beach areas, there is plenty of grass and picnic areas, restrooms, and a children’s play area. The southern end of Marina Park and Beach is protected by a breakwater making it a great place for children. The park is a perfect location for watching pleasure boats enter and leave Ventura Harbor.
Emmanuel Franz House - Ventura
The Emmanuel Franz House, built in 1879 to 1891, is an historical Italianate Victorian home located at 31 N. Oak Street in downtown Ventura. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982 and was designated an Historic Landmark by the City of Ventura in 1976. It is a beautiful structure.
Plaza Park - Ventura
Plaza Park is a beautiful community park in downtown Ventura. It has views of the eucalyptus tree covered hills of Ventura, a great play area, large pagota, the 137 year old Moreton Bay Fig Tree, huge shade trees, and lots of open space and fresh air.
Seaside Park - Ventura
Seaside Park in Ventura is the name of the 79 acre site that is home to the Ventura County Fair. Seaside Park is located near the mouth of the Ventura River on the Pacific Ocean. The Ventura Raceway is located and operates at Seaside Park for several months each year.
Dudley House - Ventura
The Dudley House Historic Museum, built in 1891, is a beautiful historic Victorian saltbox house in Ventura. When the house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977, it was occupied by the fifth generation of the Dudley family. The magnificent home is now owned by the city of Ventura and is open for tours. It is also available for small private events on a limited basis.

Livery Theatre
The Ventura Improv Company, located in the historic downtown district of Ventura, has been offering comedy improv shows since 1989. The popular shows are performed in the historic Livery complex located at 34 North Palm Street which is between East Main Street and Poli Street.
Rubicon Theatre Company – Ventura
The Rubicon Theatre Company is a great family oriented small theater that offers theatrical productions which include many American classic, workshops for students, classes, and much more. The theater is located in the historic downtown district of Ventura at 1006 East Main Street.

Ventura Adult and Continuing Education, located in Ventura, prepares students with low cost academic, vocational, and technological competencies needed to compete in today’s job market. Channel Islands Chamber Orchestra
For more than a decade, the Channel Islands Chamber Orchestra has been providing first class performances in Ventura and Camarillo. Each season is funded by donations made to the Channel Islands Chamber Orchestra non-profit organization located in Ventura.
