Point Mugu
Point Mugu is an unincorporated area and promontory in Ventura County near Oxnard and Port Hueneme. It is the home of Point Mugu State Park which has more than 70 miles of hiking trails and over 5 miles of shoreline. Mugu Rock is a distinctive feature and far western end of the Santa Monica Mountains.
Chumash Trail- Point Mugu
Chumash Trail - Point Mugu is a trail in Ventura County that starts above Point Mugu Beach, northwest of Malibu. It ends in La Jolla Valley to the north. The trail was named in honor of the Chumash People who inhabited the area for thousands of years. Chumash Trail- Point Mugu should not be confused with Chumash Indian Trail in Malibu or Chumash Park and Trail in Simi Valley.
Mugu Lagoon
Mugu Lagoon is a large undisturbed estuary at the mouth of the Calleguas Creek on the coast of Ventura County. Since it is part of the Naval Base Ventura County it is protected against any form of development.
Arroyo Conejo - Ventura County
The Arroyo Conejo, also known as Rabbit Creek, is the primary drainage for Thousand Oaks in the Conejo Valley. The creek originates in the Conejo Valley in Newbury Park and then flows through Thousand Oaks, Camarillo, and the Santa Rosa Valley where it merges with the Arroyo Santa Rosa which flows into Conejo Creek. Conejo Creek flows into Mugu Lagoon, in Ventura County, at the far north end of Santa Monica Mountains.
The Great Sand Dune
The Great Sand Dune is a large naturally formed sand dune on the north side of Pacific Coast Highway. It is located west of Malibu and east of Point Mugu. It was formed over thousands of years by the wind and has become a popular place to hike. Views of the beach and Pacific Ocean from the top are absolutely spectacular.
