Palos Verdes refers to the four cities located in the Palos Verdes Hills on the Palos Verdes Peninsula. Palos Verdes is ipart of the South Bay region of Los Angeles County and consists of Palos Verdes Estates, Rimcho Palos Verdes, Rolling Hills, and Rolling Hills Estates. All four cities are highly affluent areas known for their excellent views of the Channel Islands and the Pacific Ocean. The area has extensive hiking and horse trails. Torrance is to the north and Long Beach and San Pedro are to the east.

Palos Verdes Hills

The Palos Verdes Hills are .a low mountain range on the southern coast of Los Angeles County forming the Palos Verdes Peninsula.

 

Malaga Cove

Malaga Cove is a beach on the northern side of the Palos Verdes Peninsula known as one the best diving areas in Southern California. The beach is beautiful, but very rocky. There are no lifeguards or restrooms.

 

Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy

The Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy (PVPLC), established in 1988, is a nonprofit organization whose mission is "Preserving land and restoring habitat for the enjoyment and education of all." Local preserves include the 1,400 acre Palos Verdes Nature Preserve, the 20 acre Lunuda Canyon Reserve, the 36 acre George F. Canon Nature Center, and the White Point Nature Preserve.

 

Palos Verdes Blue Butterfly

The Palos Verdes Blue Butterfly is a small endangered butterfly native only to the Palos Verdes Peninsula. It is considered to be one of the world's rarest butterflies because of its single known habitat.

 

Palos Verdes Library District

The Palos Verdes Library District operates three full service libraries that serve the cities of Palos Verdes Estates, Rancho Palos Verdes, Rolling Hills Estates, and Rolling Hills.

 

South Bay Chinese School

The South Bay Chinese School, a non-profit organization located in Palos Verdes, has been offering Chinese language; classes for children and adults since 1971. It is the stated mission of the school to instill an awareness of the Chinese heritage and to create programs that will introduce the Chinese culture to the community. South Bay Chinese School has many corporate and business sponsors which are greatly appreciated.

 

South Coast Botanic Garden

The South Coast Botanic Garden, established in 1959, in an 87-acre public garden located on the Palos Verdes Peninsula which is in the South Bay region of Los Angeles County. The garden contains over 200,000 plants including 2,000 species from around the world. Specialty gardens include:a Japanese garden, a fuchsia garden, and a rose garden. A manmade lake attracts more than 200 species of birds that either make their home at the garden or use it as a stop in their annual migration. South Coast Botanic garden is absolutely beautiful and worth visiting.
